Corporate Social Responsibility
We at Merchiston Solicitors are committed to ensure that our policy on corporate social responsibility (CSR) is not just a cliché, but translates into deed and that we actually have a positive impact on the community and our environment. We go beyond our remit as lawyers and work hard to inspire others.
We are a law firm that values ‘not for profit’ contributions to society and believes in building strong social ties on reciprocal respect, support and understanding. We discharge our CSR responsibilities through charitable and pro bono work, and strive to reduce our impact on the environment.
We promote charitable work and support charities around the world. We are the official sponsors of the Al-Ansari (‘the Helpers’) Foundation (AAF), a British registered charity regulated by the Charities Commission in the UK, which is dedicated to changing children’s lives in Zanzibar, Africa.
Our lawyers are also involved in other activities such as providing pro bono (i.e. free) legal advice clinics, which we hold on a monthly basis in community centres and libraries which is an aspect of our work with the broader community. We also advise charitable housing associations on an ad hoc basis to help improve social inclusion.
