Merchiston Solicitors agreed to sponsor the Cornershop Show, a hit web sitcom, which is set to launch its fifth episode of this series on 6th September 2014.
From the Director of the cult viral hit 'Mandem on The Wall,’ which was later adapted by TV’s E4 as the “Youngers,” Islah Abdur-Rahman, brings a new comedy web series, “Corner Shop Show”, (the ‘Show’), which follows the bungling endeavours of ‘Malik’ as he attempts to run the family business left to him by his father to look after. Speaking about Merchiston’s sponsorship, the Show’s Founder and Director, Islah Abdur-Rahman, who also plays the main role in the sitcom, stated:
We’ve had an overwhelming response from fans since we launched the show and people have been eagerly awaiting episode 5 due for release on 6th September 2014. I am pleased that we are getting notice and to have acquired corporate supporters like Merchiston Solicitors.
The Show already has 8,000 subscribers and some 50,000 fans log onto 'You Tube' upon launch of each episode. Merchiston will therefore be getting instant exposure to a fairly large audience. Its ‘Ident,’ is used in the featurette and in the new episode itself.
The Show has a diverse blend of actors from diverse ethnic backgrounds and mixed notoriety on the show, appealing to a wide audience. This episode features the acting debut and cameo of the famous ‘spoken word poet’ Suli Breaks, who was recently endorsed by Will Smith, and it also features Islam Channel’s Atif Nawaz.
As the Show has gathered popularity, it has drawn media attention and has been endorsed by a wide number of celebrities such as Sanjeev Bhaskar (Goodness Gracious Me), Ameet Chana (Bend It Like Beckham), Humza Arshad (Diary of a Badman), Rakhee Thakrar (Eastenders), Sunny and Shay (Channel 4’s ‘The Family’).
